..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................
In January of 2011 Tino embarked on the 4352 km transcontinental journey between Sydney and Perth. This voyage is one of the longest and most fascinating train journeys in the world. The Indian Pacific is passing through 32 towns and travelling 2004 km across the Nullarbor Plain. Whilst on the Nullarbor the Indian Pacific is stopping at Cook, one of Australia's most isolated towns, with a population of four people. The history of the Indian Pacific can be traced back to the early 1900's. It was not until 1969 that an continuing rail line from the Pacific Ocean in the east to the Indian Ocean in the west existed. The first continuous voyage of the new Indian Pacific depart Sydney in 1970. Tino captured this contrasting and remarkable landscape across Australia. An selection of these photographs will be exhibited at Sara Roney Gallery in May 2011. ajh
